September 2026 update

Financial risk data is freshest where it changes fastest

This update focuses on public-data freshness, direct financial questions, and clearer source context. FinancialRiskIQ keeps slower annual sources stable while refreshing faster-moving debt and legal distress signals when they validate cleanly.

What changed

The September update adds clearer source freshness, expands direct-answer search around debt and legal distress, and refreshes debt-credit data when the Philadelphia Fed Consumer Credit Explorer exposes a newer period. Bankruptcy filing rates add a county-backed signal for legal-system financial distress.

What stayed stable

ACS-backed income, housing, and cost metrics remain on ACS 2024 until ACS 2025 5-year data is available through the Census API. Industry concentration remains on County Business Patterns 2023. LAUS 2025 stays out of scoring until the full 12-month annual volatility check passes.

Last checked September 7, 2026. Coverage varies by risk area: some signals are city-level, some are county or metro baselines, and some are state-level only. FinanceRiskIQ labels that scope so a city page does not pretend to have city data when the public source does not support it.
